If you are looking for a café that is centrally located in the heart of Kiev then this is for you. The food is pretty good but not as good as some other places. The prices are a little more expensive than similar cafe's but still cheap by European standards. The reason to go here would be location and convenience as it is situated on the main high street of Kiev called Khreschatyk. It is located close to Independence square on the opposite side of the street to the metro.
Soul Café is situated on the left bank away from the main tourist area which is located on the right bank. To me this small friendly café exemplifies everything good about Kiev. The staff are polite, friendly and kind, in fact typically Ukrainian. It is situated half-way down Rusanivska Street between Hotel Slavutych and Tourist Hotel and almost opposite restaurant Smorodina. There are a couple of supermarkets nearby so you could do a bit of shopping and use the Soul Café as a stop-off point. The café is modern, clean and has high standards of hygiene.
Very Well Café is a really great cool place situated close to the main street Khreschatyk. It has a very cosy atmosphere, excellent service and delicious meals at very reasonable prices. At lunchtime and evenings it can get quite busy so you may have to book ahead. English speaking staff and Wi-Fi.
If you want to try Vareniki (type of dumpling with sweet or savoury fillings) or even a delicious breakfast then Café Verenye should be top of your list. The café has a homely feel to it, bright and warm atmosphere. Nice open kitchen so you can see the food being made. And if you fancy something a little sweeter then try some delicious Napoleon Cake. Really good value inexpensive home cooked food type place.
