Ukraine can be described as having a continental influenced climate. Kiev has four distinct seasons: a cold winter, warm hot summer and a cool autumn and spring. High humidity during summer days can often make it feel hot and sticky.

The best time to visit Kiev is dependent on what you like. If you like the drama of heavy snow, skiing in the Carpathian mountains or Christmas markets then December through to February would be a good time to visit. But if you prefer hot summer sunshine, beach clubs and  al fresco dining then the months of June through to August would be best for you. The spring months from March to May are comfortable and have average temperatures between 5.1°C (41.2°F) and 14°C (57.2°F). Kiev is one of the greenest city's in Europe so spring would be an excellent time to visit if you enjoy parks and flowers. Autumn is also beautiful in Kiev, abundant flora and tree lined boulevards turn golden brown and warm colours welcome the beginning of winter. Temperatures are comfortable ranging from a high of 19°C (66.2°F) and an average low of 10.2°C (50.4°F).
